We all know the IMDb. Ever searched for a film or actor/actress in Google? Was the first link to pop up one of the IMDb? The answer is yes and to be specific, it’s 9 times out of ten that the Internet Movie Database is the tortoise at the finish line.
The IMDb is a site for geeks, losers and movie buffs alike. Now you may already be asking yourselves why I mentioned “geeks and losers”. The thing is, you may just use the Database to remind yourself who played Buddy Holly in Pulp Fiction, but others waste their time there roaming ’round the message boards. And to your surprise (or not), I am also one of those geeky losers.
The message boards provide discussion, debate, information etc. But the General Message Boards are the jewel here. My personal favourite would have to be The Sandbox. It’s a free-for-all place where you can be as random as you like whilst not breaking any of the “Terms & Conditions”.
If you’re a regular of any one of the IMDb General Message Boards, you have no life. This is a well-known fact. You can’t fight, hide nor deny it. It’s just the way the internet works.
I was once a regular. Then I took a three-month-break. Then I returned, this time as a troll. And now I have quit. It’s for the best, you sappy sorrows and I recommend you give up on the General Message Boards too!
Some other attractive features would have to be the Top 250 and the Bottom 100. I have been lucky enough not to have seen many of the Bottom 100, but am unfortunate to have only seen 88 of the Top 250 (so far).
